Beaver fur coats and hats are often sold in fur stores. The fur of this mysterious animal is even, dense and with a rather short pile. The guard and downy villi are equal in length and much shorter than those of a rabbit. Beaver products exist, but there is no animal with this name in nature, and this fur has nothing to do with beavers. Location: Location: A beaver coat and a beaver coat are not the same thing. A beaver is a rabbit. But the rabbit is a special breed of Rex - royal. It is also called chinchilla. There is even a legend that this breed came from crossing a rabbit with a chinchilla. But this is not the case. This breed was developed in France at the beginning of the last century. The animals had an amazing color and an unusual fur structure. Their skins were red-brown, with a dark back and light sides, like those of a beaver. Therefore, the new breed was named "Castor Rex", which means "king of the beavers". The structure of fur most of all resembled chinchilla, although it was somewhat thicker and coarser.

Fur manufacturers very soon realized the benefits of the new fur. The villi are perpendicular to the skin, the guard and feathers are the same length, so the fur seems smoother than that of other rabbits. The pile is soft and delicate to the touch.

At first, rex rabbits were bred mainly in Spain. To this day, beaver fur coats made in this country are considered the best. However, this does not mean at all that chinchilla rabbits cannot live in other countries. They are also bred in Russia, and in the past few decades, a significant part of the fur products of this animal have been supplied to world markets from China.

The popularity of beaver products is due to the good combination of price and quality. Fur coats made of such fur are quite practical; they perfectly tolerate the vagaries of the weather, including severe frost or wet snow. They are quite warm, and with proper care they retain their appearance and quality much longer than the usual five-year period for products of this type. The fact is that the skin of a chinchilla rabbit is quite thick, therefore, in preparation for cutting, the skins are stretched. This feature of the technology creates the necessary safety margin.

A thick, very warm fabric is also called a beaver. It is made on the basis of coarse wool twill. It turns out a fleece, which gives products from such a material excellent heat-shielding properties.
