On February 28, the 88th Amermkan Film Academy Awards took place in Los Angeles, and Leonardo DiCaprio finally received the coveted statuette!

The whole world was waiting for this news with bated breath, and Leonardo DiCaprio nevertheless met the expectations of his fans, having received his first Oscar for the lead male role in Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu's film The Survivor. Iñarritu himself for the same film became the best director, according to the American film academics. The Best Film Award went to Spotlight, and Brie Larson was named Best Actress for her role in Room. The record holder for the number of statuettes was George Miller's film "Mad Max: Fury Road", which collected as many as 6 "Oscars" in technical nominations.
