The best bartender according to Beluga Signature 2018 was named Italian Alessandro Venturi from the bar of the premium hotel La Griffe in Rome. On September 10, the final of the international competition gathered representatives of the bartender community from 8 countries in the DOM restaurant, Sochi. Alessandro won the jury with an exquisite cocktail called Itineris Beluga.

The Beluga Signature international bartender competition was launched three years ago and during this time has expanded its territory to 8 countries. Such a wide coverage is due to the focus on contributing to the development of the industry and increasing the prestige of the bartending profession at the world level. This year, participants from Russia, Germany, France, Great Britain, Spain, Italy, Bulgaria and the USA had to go through several stages: the Beluga Signature Bartenders School, which included a series of master classes from legendary bar industry experts, as well as creative and individual tasks related to the development of unique recipes based on Beluga vodka.

The task of the final stage of the competition remained secret until the very day of the competition. During the drawing of lots, the finalists were asked to draw out a note with a scent that will become the inspiration for the creation of a signature cocktail based on Beluga vodka and its legend.

The jury panel of the final of the Beluga Signature 2018 competition included well-known representatives of the bartending industry, chaired by Philip Duff, as well as an expert in the field of flavor. The strongest bartenders from eight countries have shown a high level of both professionalism and presentation skills. The best bartender according to Beluga Signature 2018 was Alessandro Venturi - the bartender of the Roman Hotel La Griffe (by Sofitel) and received the highest rating from the panel of judges according to all criteria - presentation, storytelling, author's reading of a creative task. Alessandro was inspired by the aromas of vanilla extract, chocolate and caramel, choosing the perfect ingredients for them and creating a unique cocktail with a unique taste based on Beluga Noble vodka called Itineris Beluga.

Second place went to Natalie Van Wyk from Dietrich's bar, Germany, and third place went to French bartender Guillermo Pittaluga from La Havane.

Philip Duff is the chairman of the jury, a world renowned professional in the bar industry, consultant and expert, director of Tales of the cocktail educational programs (USA) and the Beluga Signature bartender school.

Marie Wright is vice president and chief flavorist at ADM Nutrition. Marie is deeply convinced that creating flavors and aromas is an art, not a science. She successfully transfers her experience and develops the profession of flavoring within the ADM's Academy of Future Flavorists.

Marcus Voglrieder is the main ideologist and creator of the Nobu US restaurant chain, a world-renowned bartender, the creator of the Nobu bartender competition system, a recognized expert on sake.

Oscar Quagliarini, the bartender of the Parisian bar L'Herbarium, conducts his own seminars around the world on inspiration in the process of creating cocktails, develops professional partnerships with such famous perfume houses as Dior, Hermes and Guerlain.

“Beluga Signature is no longer just a competition, this year the program has reached a whole new level. The competition now remains only one of the components of an extensive program. It is pleasant to know that the training seminars held in the spring became really useful - the knowledge gained from them was applied by all participants in all subsequent stages. Their influence can be clearly seen in the long-term homework of the previous stage, and in a quick "brainstorming" in order to conquer the final. I can proudly say that it is a great honor for me to be the chairman of the jury for a competition of this level,” Philipp Duff assessed the level of the program in 2018.

“All cocktails today were performed at the highest level. I admire creativity, while spontaneous creativity, because the participants did not have the opportunity to prepare in advance for the task. I was impressed by absolutely everything - the level at which the works were presented, attention to detail and, especially, the approach to serving the main ingredient - Beluga vodka”, - Marcus Voglrieder especially noted the level of training of the participants.

“The victory in Beluga Signature was a big surprise for me. Of course, I tried hard, but I was no less worried - when you have such strong opponents, you get an additional incentive to fight. This program has already given me new impressions, emotions from communicating with colleagues in the shop, from exchanging ideas and gaining knowledge from world-famous specialists. And now a whole new world opens up in front of me, because I have become the Beluga Signature ambassador,” Alessandro Venturi shared his emotions from the well-deserved victory.

The 2018 Beluga Signature Winner has become the Global Ambassador for the full 2019 program. He will undertake a week-long internship at one of the 50 best bars in the world of his choice and represent the brand at the most prestigious international industrial events.
