Snowboarding is a rapidly developing sport in our country. Professional athletes represent Russia at world championships and the Olympic Games, perform in different countries, become the faces of snowboard brands, speaking on their behalf. And girls are doing well in snowboarding as well as boys.
Snowboarding as a hobby means many hours of outdoor skiing and communication with peers with similar interests. You can start skating from 3-4 years old under the guidance of a coach. Many people achieve success very quickly. For example, the five-time Russian champion Alena Alekhina has been skating for only seven years. And 17-year-old Katya Prusakova (skating for 5 years) and Nikita Avtaneev (4 years old) have already become part of the Russian national snowboard team.
The Russian Snowboard Awards were created to support young people; it is a kind of springboard for their further development. The Russian Snowboard Awards 2012 includes eight nominations, two of which - "People's Hero" and "Discovery of the Year" - are open for general voting. The nominees for the award were athletes from different parts of Russia, who showed excellent results in the 2011/2012 winter season. Voting is still open, until November 29 it is possible to vote for one of the participants of the Russian Snowboard Awards 2012.
