"Wouldn't you like me to take a nasty spaghetti western?" thought Quentin Tarantino. And he took it off, once again confirming that any genre at the exit becomes a genre of his own name. But is this not a success!

The incredibly gallant German King Schultz (Christoph Waltz) travels through the southern lands of the United States on the eve of the civil war of the 1860s. On the roof of his wagon, a fake tooth on a spring sways amiably and foolishly. Without ceasing to be extremely polite, even during a bloody shootout, Schultz ransoms from the master of the black slave Django (Jamie Foxx), crushed by a dead horse. Hiding behind his medical background, the German turns out to be a bounty hunter of white criminals. Not accepting slavery as such, Schultz takes Django as a free partner, not a slave, teaches him to read the "WANTED!" and shoot the snowmen. And he is happy to shoot the whites. But not everything is so rosy. In captivity, Django was left with his wife Brumhilda. Its owner is the American Francophile "Sir Monsieur Candy" (Leonardo DiCaprio),to whom they go on a cunning mission Django and now his friend Schultz.

"Django Unchained" - on the one hand, it is not politically correct movie, where the word "nigger" sounds almost every half a minute, which felt the freedom to choose a slave wears a shiny blue suit with a bow, where humor is black, not only because it is a tragic but because Blacks themselves joke hard on other Blacks. Even black director Spike Lee boycotted the film in absentia as soon as he learned that Tarantino was going to make a film about essentially Holocaust-like slavery in the United States in the frivolous genre of spaghetti western. However, Quentin is not naturally inclined to dramatize the past. His approach in this matter is simple - what was, what was, so why not look at history from a different angle.

In "Django" there is no emphasis on the horrors of the time. Of course, Tarantino could not resist and showed a close-up of the scenes of punishment of slaves. But from the screen it looks like a fleeting excursion: on the left you see how a fugitive is whipped, on the right - how dogs gnaw human meat, and now you will see the main attraction. And in the center is the star of all this big top - the director himself, who skillfully juggles with just two balls: Good and Evil. And if in all his previous filmography Tarantino made an incendiary mixture of these ingredients, in "Django" he spread these concepts to the corners. The director charged each character either positively or negatively. And here good is not always on the flank of the oppressed. But all the more fun. One character Samuel L. Jackson is worth - a real fiend!

Tarantino himself denies that "Django Unchained" is a comedy. “It's more of a violent adventure story,” says the director. There is no doubt about the cruelty. But, as always, the rivers of ketchup, the shots from which the victim was sucked into the next room by a supermassive black hole by inertia, and the blood artistically sprinkled on the cotton flowers evokes an understanding grin in the viewer. Good old Quentin, as always, we understood your ironic mockery.

Despite the director's denial, "Django" is still a real runaway comedy. It is generally devoid of flat gags and is packed to the brim with wittily written dialogues, which, of course, are charmingly played out by Tarantino's acting favorites. And even with Russian dubbing, the film looks quite tolerable. You can literally hear how the voice acting catches the buzz from all this verbal burlesque.

The refined DiCaprio and the merciless Waltz seemed to have mixed up the usual roles of each other, it seems, were not averse to swapping places for Django. However, Waltz, nominated for everything that is possible this year, and having already won the Golden Globe, no doubt proves that a talented person is talented in everything.

Another question is that Django himself for some reason turns out to be more boring than everyone else in the film. Although the goodies-lovers have never been particularly in good standing with Tarantino. That is why he, probably, threatens to amputate his main weapon of love. But the genre obliges to something else.

Surprisingly, despite the fact that Tarantino follows the instructions of the spaghetti western, like a diligent student, "Django Unchained" is at the same time kept in the best traditions of his author's style. The film is full of ironic allusions and, taking this opportunity, sends his greetings to the entire cinema. That's why we love Tarantino. And it's damn nice that he continues to be himself, despite snobbish grunts like "Quentin, take it off somehow differently."
