Rhinoplasty: contraindications

Rhinoplasty allows you to solve many problems associated with the shape of the nose: adjust its proportions and size, remove the hump, correct the curvature of the nasal septum, etc. Like any surgery, rhinoplasty has a number of medical contraindications. Location: Location: One of the main factors to consider when performing rhinoplasty is the age of the patient. It is better to address the operative change in the shape of the nose at the age of 18 to 35 years. It is impractical to perform rhinoplasty before the age of 18, because before this time the formation of facial bones occurs, and the shape of the nose may still change. After 35-40 years, the first signs of skin aging appear, and nose surgery is performed using other techniques, combined with a facelift. Of course, these conditions do not apply to medical operations to eliminate serious injuries to the nose, which are carried out at any age.

Absolute contraindications for rhinoplasty are: diabetes mellitus, chronic diseases of the liver, kidneys, gastrointestinal tract, diseases of the cardiovascular system, inflammatory diseases of the female genital area, blood clotting disorders, oncological diseases, active stage of tuberculosis, acute infectious diseases, mental disorders …

There are also relative contraindications for nasal plastic surgery, which can be eliminated through adequate treatment. These include pustular diseases of the skin of the face, herpetic eruptions on the face, inflammation of the oral mucosa and paranasal sinuses, atrophic rhinitis, and others.

Preparation for nose surgery includes a complete examination of the patient's health in order to identify absolute and relative contraindications that may impede rhinoplasty. In addition, the patient is obliged to pass all the necessary tests. If no contraindications are identified, it is necessary to strictly observe all conditions of the preparatory period - to rest more, eliminate physical and emotional overload, quit smoking and not drink alcoholic beverages, and also not take any medications without consulting a doctor.
