Video: ❶ Methods For Removing Moles

Moles are removed in two cases: if they, in the opinion of their owner, are a cosmetic defect and in a situation where there is a high probability of their malignant transformation. Removal of moles is performed in medical institutions under local anesthesia. Location: Location: The traditional method of removal is excision with a scalpel. The surgeon cuts out the area of skin with the birthmark and then applies a cosmetic suture to the edges of the wound. If a malignant neoplasm is suspected, the surrounding tissues in a radius of 3-5 cm are excised together with the mole, and on the face they tend to reduce this value to the minimum values. The surgical method is most often used to remove large convex and flat moles.
Laser coagulation. Under the action of laser radiation, the cells forming the mole are heated and "evaporated". The vessels are also subjected to cauterization, so blood loss during the procedure is minimized. After laser coagulation, a small crust remains on the skin, which disappears without a trace after 1-2 weeks.
Electrocoagulation. For this method of removing moles, surgeons use a special metal loop to which a high frequency current is applied. The loop cuts off the mole, coagulating the damaged vessels. After the procedure, a small crust also remains on the skin, which disappears after a couple of weeks. The advantage of electrocoagulation is that the removed tissue can be sent for histological examination to study its cellular structure.
Radio knife (Surgitron). The procedure is carried out in a non-contact way: high-frequency waves are sent to the area of the skin to be removed, "evaporating" the tissue. Unlike laser and electrocoagulation, in this case, there is no formation of burns and crusts. In addition, the removal of moles with Surgitron is painless and as accurate as possible.
Cryodestruction. The mole is exposed to liquid nitrogen, which has a temperature of 180 degrees Celsius. There is no direct contact of nitrogen with the skin; it cools the metal tip attached to the epidermis. Under the influence of low temperature, the tissues are necrotic (die) and are rejected with the formation of a small scar.
All methods of mole removal are equally effective in the hands of professionals. The choice of this or that method depends on the specific clinical case and the patient's financial capabilities.
