Video: ❶ "Star" Disease: Varicose Veins
Pulling pains, rapid fatigability of the legs, and eventually the appearance of vascular "asterisks" on them is nothing but varicose veins - a disease associated with impaired venous outflow from the lower extremities. Women are more prone to this insidious ailment, and not only of old age. This disease has become much younger and some people begin to worry already at a young age. Location: Location: Varicose veins develop gradually and there are predisposing factors. For example, professions associated with prolonged standing, hereditary weakness of the veins, flat feet, excessive physical exertion, overweight, pregnancy, constipation, lack of physical activity during sedentary work, systematic compression of the veins with uncomfortable clothes and shoes, poor nutrition.
The appearance of protruding veins and blood vessels resembling asterisks on the legs is preceded by the initial symptoms of varicose veins. And one of the first to appear are pulling pains in the legs. At first, they are more likely to go for fatigue, since they begin to disturb them in the late afternoon. However, as the disease progresses, they can be alarming already in the morning. Over time, there is a constant heaviness in the legs, mainly in the lower leg, as well as a feeling of pouring boiling water along the veins, numbness or tickling of the skin.
Depending on the intensity and duration of exposure to adverse factors contributing to the development of varicose veins, the appearance of veins and spider veins protruding through the skin may occur in 1-3-5-7 years. If at the initial stage treatment is not carried out and preventive measures are not taken, the change in veins begins to progress and becomes irreversible.
Gradually altered vessels lose their ability to normally carry out blood supply to tissues. Lymph outflow is also impaired. Because of this, swelling of the lower leg and ankle joint develops, dryness and itching of the skin, its thinning, a tendency to quick damage and difficult healing appear.
The neglected form of "star" disease is manifested by the formation of ugly protruding nodes and cords. Blood easily stagnates in them, from which blood clots form. They pose a considerable danger to life, because their exfoliation from the walls and movement to vital vessels can cause blockage and death.
Treatment of varicose veins depends on the stage of the disease. If the changes in the veins are compensated, compression underwear, gymnastics, vitamins, pharmacotherapy are prescribed. In severe cases, they resort to surgical intervention, so it is better not to postpone the visit to the doctor. The treatment assigned to them will be individual. This will help prevent further development of the disease.
It is much cheaper to engage in the prevention of varicose veins. In addition to eliminating predisposing factors, it is necessary to promote the normal outflow of venous blood from the lower extremities on a daily basis, namely, not to pull the legs under oneself at the end of the working day, but, if possible, to rest more often with the raised position of the legs and take walks. It is also important to monitor your diet. It should contain enough foods rich in vitamins C, E and PP.
