You will most likely be prescribed mild tranquilizers to take about a week before your period starts. They will help remove autonomic disturbances and anxiety.

In addition to PMS, a normal adult woman has many reasons to feel depressed. But if the state of dissatisfaction with life, oneself, relations with a loved one reaches its climax, then it can easily turn into real depression. This is a medical term that means a prolonged state of apathy, depression, aggravated by fears: the fear of losing attractiveness and beauty over the years or being alone. If during the week you prefer TV to chatting with friends, then this is not a reason to talk about depression. But if the condition lasts a month, or even years, then you have problems.

Despite the assertion of psychologists that periods of depression are adequate for a person and are companions of age-related crises, do not take lack of interest and apathy for the norm. In a woman's life, there are both black and gray stripes. But, the older you get, the less frequent bouts of euphoria and light streaks occur.

You get depressed if you can't find a life partner for a long time. No matter what strong women say, being alone is not easy and unpleasant. I would like some simple signs of attention, affection, warmth. But if this is not the case, then neither the society of friends, nor interesting books, nor shopping will save. You also get upset when a loved one is there, but there is no mutual understanding. You worry when he pays little attention to both the common child and you.

Along with PMS, postpartum depression is also sometimes a serious motive to see a doctor. The depressed state can be aggravated by the fact that after childbirth, antidepressants should not be taken immediately, so as not to harm the baby during feeding. It is important that at such moments, relatives take special care of the woman. Their support will help you cope with difficulties.

In the West, a woman in most cases has a personal psychologist, in Russia, most often a close friend plays his role. This "girlfriend therapy" is very effective in fighting depression. Do not keep everything to yourself, voice problems to realize that verbally they do not seem so insoluble.

Whatever the reasons for your depression - childbirth, quarrels with a loved one or a midlife crisis, you must remember: a person can cope with everything if he wants. Do not be sad in vain and do not suffer for a long time: negative emotions shorten life and lead to premature aging.
