In summer, it is so pleasant to relax in nature. But a basket full of mushrooms or berries, night gatherings by the fire and fishing on a forest lake can turn out to be very unpleasant things for you. Epileptic seizures, blurred consciousness, paralysis and death can all be caused by a small blood-sucking insect. Location: Location: Tick-borne encephalitis is a viral infection. It is transmitted to humans during the bite of an ixodid tick. Despite all the diversity of these insects, only two species pose a real danger: the taiga and European forest ticks. And the peaks of their activity are in May-June and August-September.
This disease is much easier to prevent than to cure later. If you are planning to spend the summer hiking and mushroom hunting, it is not superfluous to get vaccinated against encephalitis. It is done two months before the risk of infection. If you are late with the vaccination, take the drug "Yodantipirin" during the hike for prevention. It is a powerful immune stimulant. In case of a tick bite, you should drink it three tablets three times a day, for prevention - one tablet three times a day. Before buying the drug, be sure to consult your doctor.
When going to the forest, take a close look at your wardrobe. You must wear long-sleeved clothes, closed shoes, into which you can tuck your pants (if the model does not provide this, tuck your pants into your socks). Put on a cap or a bandana on your head, under which you carefully remove your hair, tie a scarf or scarf around your neck. Treat exposed skin, clothing, and all equipment with a mite repellent.
If you do get bitten by a tick, gently pull it out. To do this, you can grease the skin with sunflower oil or throw a loop of thread over the belly of the insect and pull it out with twisting movements. Do not throw away the tick, but go with it to the hospital. Doctors examine the insect and determine if it was a carrier of encephalitis.
The incubation period of the disease lasts one to two weeks, after which the victim's temperature rises sharply, nausea, vomiting, and sleep disturbances are observed. If you or your companions feel unwell, go to the hospital immediately. It is desirable that this be an institution in a large city where there is an infectious diseases department. This is where you can receive full treatment.
