Recently I walked past a market where grandmothers sell gifts, so to speak, of nature. Understandably, there are rows of pickled cucumbers, pickled tomatoes, salads, jam, cranberries, slightly lined with frost and lingonberries. I ran past. And I would have run for sure if my grandmother, who sells lingonberries, had not called out, buy, they say, dear … Actually, why should I take her? What kind of berry is this, I heard about it, but I didn't have to try it … Oh, in vain, I probably asked … Or maybe not. My grandmother gave me a whole lecture about the benefits of berries and what to do with it. Well, do not waste valuable information, so I urgently share my knowledge about lingonberries with the readers of the women's site JustLady. Location: Location:

As befits grandmothers, first they told me a beautiful legend. Long ago, swallows were very friendly with people. People took good care of the birds and no one was allowed to offend them. And then one day, one of the swallows found a spring with the water of eternal life. She decided to give water to people and took a few drops into her beak. But this source was guarded by evil wasps so that no one could carry away the magic water. Seeing that the swallow carries water in its beak, the wasps chased after it and began to sting. The swallow was unable to keep water in its beak, and precious drops fell on pine, cedar and lingonberry. And that's why they are forever green. True, people never got the living water.

As it turned out, lingonberry grows in coniferous and deciduous forests in swamps. Moreover, in the most disastrous, peat areas it is most of all. Lingonberries were always collected in Russia. Even before the arrival of the Mongols and Christianity. Lingonberry is a storehouse of vitamins: A, B, C and E, as well as iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, manganese and calcium, pectins, tannins, carotene, therefore it is very important to use it in winter. By the way, sauerkraut with lingonberries is not only beautiful and tasty, but also very healthy.

After that, the boiled lingonberries are placed in a water bath and heated for 30 minutes. Remove from the water bath and let it brew for another 10 minutes. Strain. But children, as a rule, do not like broths very much. They prefer fruit drinks and compotes. Pour a few tablespoons of berries with a liter of boiling water, add honey to taste, insist and give to children, as an aid for flu and colds. It is also good for treating vitamin deficiency. Actually, adults can use it, but it should be remembered that lingonberry has the ability to lower blood pressure. Therefore, if the pressure is low, it must be taken with great care.
