Many people often complain that even in the daytime they constantly want to sleep: they do not consistently feel rested and, according to them, cannot fully wake up in the morning. There is a scientific explanation for this phenomenon and the corresponding term is hypersomnia. Location: Location:
As you know, each person needs a different sleep time - for some, an average of 6-7 hours is enough, and for some, not enough 10. In the case when, for example, a busy work schedule, you have to sleep significantly less than this requires the body, hypersomnia may develop - a syndrome of continuous drowsiness. Sometimes this even leads to the fact that the sufferer of hypersomnia can hardly get out of bed at all, interrupting sleep only for the satisfaction of everyday physical needs.
Such sleep disturbances can be both permanent and cyclical - for example, many women experience increased sleepiness during their “critical days”. Also, in addition to chronic lack of sleep, hypersomnia can occur against the background of excessive intake of various drugs, in particular, sleeping pills or the systematic use of alcohol in large doses.
In addition, it may turn out that such sleep disturbances are a sign of some kind of mental disorder (constant drowsiness, for example, one of the obvious signs of depression), or a physical illness such as heart or respiratory failure, lung disease or hypotension (that is, too low blood pressure).
It is especially worth wary of such a type of hypersomnia as narcolepsy - attacks of sudden irresistible falling asleep in the most unexpected places: on the street or at work, standing or on the move, driving, and so on.
To get rid of such problems, it is important to observe sleep hygiene - do not work in shifts, regularly go to bed at the same time, sleep at least nine hours a day, practice naps (but not more than 45 minutes). It is also important to completely eliminate alcohol and fatty foods from the diet. And it is imperative to consult a doctor, since in some cases it is impossible to do without medication.
