Video: ❶ What Is Psoriasis
Psoriasis is one of the most ancient but still mysterious skin diseases. It is called the "disease of the emperors" and "psoriasis". But this ailment affects not only noble people and is not contagious, although it looks like real lichen. What is psoriasis and why does it appear? While the answer to the first question is known, it has not yet been found for the second. Location: Location: The first descriptions of psoriasis are found in medical treatises of the 1st century AD. Joseph Stalin was sick with it, and Winston Churchill, who also suffered from this disease, promised to cast a golden monument to someone who could find a cure for the disease. Modern doctors define psoriasis as a chronic skin disease with an autoimmune nature.
Outwardly, the disease looks like this: the skin is covered with specks with small scales, which are layered on top of each other. Papules have a diameter of 2 mm to 3 cm and are located mainly on the bends of the elbows and knees, arms, trunk, scalp. The scales themselves are silvery-white, peel off easily, a reddish shiny skin appears under them, small droplets of blood appear on it.
When the disease progresses, the entire body can be covered with a similar rash, a red rim appears around the papules, and the skin itches. When plaque begins to dissolve, the process starts from the middle. As a result, papules acquire a ring-shaped shape.
The etiology and pathogenesis of psoriasis have not yet been solved. In other words, the disease can start at any time and under the influence of any factors. There are various theories of the origin of psoriasis: hereditary, viral, allergic, metabolic, neurogenic, etc. But experts agree that very often the disease occurs against the background of severe stress and nervous shock.
Psoriasis is a chronic disease, it can be treated, but it cannot be completely cured. However, sometimes it can disappear by itself - just as unexpectedly as it appeared. Patients with psoriasis are shown a diet in which the intake of fats and carbohydrates, spicy and salty foods is limited. They shouldn't drink alcohol. To relieve unpleasant manifestations in the form of itching and rash, antihistamines and hyposensitizing drugs, vitamins are prescribed. The affected areas are smeared with special creams and ointments, which are also prescribed by the doctor after the examination. With psoriasis, it is necessary from time to time to carry out sanatorium treatment in places where there are hydrogen sulfide and radon sources. Sea baths and sun exposure are beneficial for psoriasis patients.
