How to treat kidney disease

Kidney disease in many cases requires very long-term treatment. It can be conservative or radical. It becomes most effective if started at an early stage. Location: Location: If you suddenly develop back pain, and urination has become either infrequent, or, on the contrary, more frequent, painful, you should think about and consult a doctor, since such symptoms can occur with latent kidney disease. There are several major diseases of these organs: polycystic disease, pyelonephritis, hereditary nephritis, hydronephrosis, glomerulonephritis, urolithiasis, renal failure and nephroptosis.

The most common kidney disease today is urolithiasis. It refers to metabolic disorders in which kidney stones are formed. The disease can be hereditary, however, in addition, there are a number of provoking factors. These include: increased levels of any salts in the urine, metabolic disorders, urinary tract infections. A sick person has symptoms characteristic of the disease - while walking or running, as well as cycling, an increase in pain is possible (usually a dull pain). There is also pain when urinating.

The way to treat urolithiasis depends on the type of stones. There are calcium oxalate, urate and phosphorus-potassium stones. If you have calcium oxalate and urate stones, you should limit your intake of sweet and meat foods. In this type of urolithiasis, all legumes are contraindicated, including cocoa beans and products containing them (for example, chocolate), as well as strong tea, nuts, citrus fruits, cheeses, spinach and salad. In case of phosphorus-potassium stones, on the contrary, meat food is recommended, and the diet consists in limiting the consumption of only legumes, dairy and fish products. For any type of urolithiasis, it is recommended to eat watermelons, melons and drink plenty of water. In addition, the pH level in urine should be monitored. This can be done both in the laboratory and on your own using strips sold at the pharmacy.

In a later stage of urolithiasis, conservative or surgical treatment is used. Conservative treatment includes combating metabolic disorders, anti-inflammatory therapy (ointments, corticosteroids), maintaining the patient's immunity (vitamin therapy). Surgical treatment is the intervention of a surgeon, which means an operation.

Renal failure is a syndrome in which there is a disorder of homeostasis, a violation of the water-electrolyte composition and acid-base balance of the kidneys. There is acute and chronic renal failure. The causes of acute renal failure are most often the following: poisoning, infectious diseases, impaired renal hemodynamics, removal of the kidney. Acute renal failure usually begins with symptoms of severe poisoning: anaphylactic shock, drowsiness, lethargy, extrasystole, uremia. Treatment consists primarily of eliminating the cause of kidney failure. For example, if it is caused by a bacterial infection, then the patient is prescribed antibacterial drugs and antibiotics. With an increase in diuresis, furosemide is prescribed. If the patient does not feel better, and the level of urea in the plasma is more than 2 g / l,purification is carried out using hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.

Chronic, like acute renal failure, is secondary. Most often, its causes can be nephritis, polycystic kidney disease and glomerulonephritis. The patient also has headache, tachycardia, arterial hypertension, nausea and vomiting. Treatment is aimed at eliminating the underlying disease that caused kidney failure.

In chronic renal failure, as in other renal diseases, restriction of proteins and legumes is shown, but the food should be high in calories from carbohydrates. If renal failure is due to nephritis or glomerulonephritis, salt intake should be limited. Also, no matter what kind of kidney disease the patient has, it is always necessary to drink plenty of water.
