Every day on TV screens we see advertisements for various multivitamins, which, according to the white-toothed beauties, are a panacea for various diseases. Ordinary shoppers are willing to buy these supplements for big money, believing in the benefit of multivitamins.
Multivitamins are a mixture of various vitamins, which, judging by the advertisement, should be absorbed by the body and make a person healthier before our eyes. But in fact, these different vitamins can be absorbed under absolutely different conditions, and also may not be combined with each other, which negatively affects the functioning of the body.
It is also quite difficult to determine which vitamins are lacking in the body. Since multivitamins are complexes of vitamins, an overdose of certain vitamins (in particular, fat-soluble), which is dangerous for the body, is quite acceptable. In particular, too much vitamin A increases the risk of osteoporosis. Regular customers often forget about the individuality of the dose of vitamins, and take vitamins just in case or believing in advertisements.
Recently, Swedish scientists have reported that taking a multivitamin increases the risk of breast cancer in women. They suggest that the constant intake of such supplements leads to the thickening of breast tissue, which is a risk factor. Their colleagues from Copenhagen believe that taking high doses of vitamins A and E increases the risk of early death, and uncontrolled use of multivitamins and dietary supplements increases the risk of prostate cancer in men by 32%.
Nutritionists believe that consulting with a professional who can choose an individual diet from conventional foods that are suitable for the patient in terms of vitamin saturation will bring a much better effect than uncontrolled constant use of multivitamins.
